This course is suitable for anyone working alone or in a setting where potential conflict may arise.
Delegates will acquire the knowledge and skills to respond safely to aggressive behaviour in the workplace, whilst travelling or during a home visit.

We had huge interest in this course from the previous bulletin and it soon filled up, so we have arranged a new date. If you are responsible for volunteer recruitment and/or marketing, this course will help you to ensure that your organisation gives the right impression to potential volunteers. It will cover the use of traditional marketing techniques together with digital and social media.

The course is for staff and volunteers with basic knowledge of Facebook and Twitter who would like to learn more about how to use it effectively to promote their organisation. Ideally participants will already have a Facebook and Twitter page set up.

SAFEGUARDING ADULTS AT RISK LEVEL 1
For all staff and volunteers working in a voluntary sector social care environment and who have not attended a course within the last 2 years. This training will help you to understand the relevant areas of the the Hertfordshire County Council Safeguarding Adults from Abuse Procedure, and enable your organisation to comply with the requirements of the Care Act.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID IN THE WORKPLACE
This one day course is designed to achieve a basic level of emergency aid and be able to take charge of first aid arrangements. Those completing the course will gain a qualification from the First Aid Industry Board.

New FREE online course: Introducing the Voluntary Sector
This Open University course covers the context and features of voluntary and community organisations including: the structure and history of the UK voluntary sector; values and beliefs; funding issues; understanding stakeholders and beneficiaries; power and empowerment; and the role of volunteering. The course is 8 weeks long, involves 3 hours per week of study and will be particularly suitable for learners working (or aspiring to work) as paid members of staff or as volunteers in voluntary or community organisations. It is available via OpenLearn.
A second course, Working in the Voluntary Sector, will be available later this year.
