Hertfordshire County Council has published its 2017-18 training calendar. This is a comprehensive range of courses for private and voluntary sector adult social care providers – covering induction training, specialist condition awareness training and much more. HCF Training and Development is offering the opportunity for trainers from voluntary and community organisations to attend a Train the Trainer course. This will equip you to deliver the Safeguarding Adults at Risk Level 1 Awareness course. This could be for your own organisation’s staff and volunteers and/or there will be the chance to apply to be part of our Safeguarding Trainers’ Pool. Please note that to be eligible for this course you need to have teaching qualifications (minimum Level 3 Award in Education & Training/PTLLS) and have attended a Safeguarding Adults at Risk Level 1 course in the last 2 years. New FREE online course: Introducing the Voluntary Sector

This Open University course covers the context and features of voluntary and community organisations including: the structure and history of the UK voluntary sector; values and beliefs; funding issues; understanding stakeholders and beneficiaries; power and empowerment; and the role of volunteering. The course is 8 weeks long, involves 3 hours per week of study and will be particularly suitable for learners working (or aspiring to work) as paid members of staff or as volunteers in voluntary or community organisations. It is available via OpenLearn.

A second course, Working in the Voluntary Sector, will be available later this year.
