Community Transport Support

Support for community transport groups across the district of St Albans

We support community car schemes, minibus operators and other groups that provide transport by holding networking meetings and training, sending out newsletters and information, finding volunteers and more.

Volunteer drivers provide transport for those people who are less mobile and unable to use public transport. Journeys can be provided for older people, disabled people, young people and children. Community transport enables them to maintain their independence; it reduces the cancellation rate of doctor and hospital appointments and can help people to feel less lonely.

Our local community transport groups are facing a shortage of volunteers at a time when demand for transport is higher than ever. If you can spare a minimum of 4 hours a month and have your own car, take a look at our Volunteer Driver Page

Blue Badge Scheme

If you need Blue Badges for your scheme the information and form can be found here.
